A good friend of mine has recently passed away. Juanmi, aka Goiphan was a powerful presence among the hacker/pirate community who was instrumental in mentoring many, many people (including myself) into the community.

He suffered a suspected stroke yesterday and died instantly. He was in his early thirties and seemed a healthy man by all accounts, so this loss has come as a real shock.

Those who have had the pleasure of speaking and dealing with him, will know he was truly a good man, generous of spirit and always willing to help, with a keen intellect and a bright future ahead of him.

We will truly miss him here, and can only send our heartfelt condolences to his close friends and family in Barcelona, Spain.

A dear friend and companion Jasmine, also known in the underground community as Mys Videl, passed away recently.

Those of us who knew her well were well aware that she was very ill and we had known it was ultimately terminal for some time. That doesn't make it easier to lose such a young bright girl who had so much more life to live.

Mys Videl always gave her time and support to anyone who needed it, even as she fought her illness. Her support was invaluable, and her technical expertise was one of the reasons that I know what I know now. I will miss her support and expertise greatly.

Moreover, I will miss her as a friend. Jasmine's style didn't always win her friends as she was never afraid to 'ruffle a few feathers', but many people around the world, like myself, became firm friends with her and discovered what a warm, caring, and considerate friend she could be. I shall miss her terribly, and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm shedding a tear as write this...

That's sad mate. My condolences to you, her friends and her family. Sounds like she was a great mate.
