I remember my first MMORPG to this day, and indeed I should, not only did it spur me onto a never adventure, but I have been known to play occasionally for nostalgia as well as entertainment; That game was Ultima Online. I could be tons of professions, hell I never even had to leave the starting town if i didn't want to, and I could still be successful enough to afford a house (yes in this game not only could you own houses, but extremely decorative objects could be found or purchased to bedazzle them, later you could even customize everything about the house). I went through every map in that game slaying dragons, as well as people (if you were outside of town guard limits you were fairgame!).
I also remember not too long later enjoying Diablo 2, while not a "true" MMO, it did have its online fun. Even today when i am out in the field my buddies and i will pull out our laptops, link up and enjoy the hackn slash mahem. With the skill tree combination's going very in depth and the item customization this was one hell of an MMO in my opinion.
I wouldnt have fun again until yeers later, then Tabula Rasa entered my life. Created by my first loves en visionary Richard Garriot, this sci-fi epic kept me sleepless many nights fighting off the alien Bane forces. It offered a new sci-fi shooter feel, and class tree that was superb! Unfortunately the game meet its demise last spring, it wasnt making enough money for NCsoft (Guild wars, Lineage, and City of Heroes). Although it supported its own they chose to shut it down in hopes that the fan base would come over to Aion: Tower of Eternity.
Well Im currently in the beta for Aion, and it doesn't have anything that clicks to me or that I think ill stick with, shoddy controls, average visuals, and a lack of general fun experienced are a turn off. Im eagerly awaiting Diablo 3, but i think blizz is waiting for its cash cow (WOW) to head to the butcher block first. I havnt seen anything in the recent days that screams out at you to play...am i missing something or are the good MMOs in a decline?

For what it's worth, I've been playing WAR (Warhammer Online) off and on for a few months now and I've been enjoying it wayyyy more than the try I ever gave WOW.

Hey what Warhammer server do you play on and whats your characters name? Im DLing the game to see how the 10 day trial goes. Afterwords Ill also write a review on it, considering im pretty unbiased towards the game Ill tell everyone how I really feel towards it.

I play on the Ironclaw server (it's one of the Oceanic ones).
