I'm no journalist so this is going to be a very informal review. After a day of testing I've come to a conclusion. I'm impressed!

In most ways, this is Windows Vista. The frame of this new operating is the same, but with a lot of new visual upgrades. One of the most noticeable features is the new task bar. Instead of having 5 instances of the same program next to each other, they've grouped programs into one icon. Now, when you hover over the icon, it will give you a pop up with a miniature preview of each instance. This is best shown if you have multiple pages open on Firefox. now instead of having to open each page to see whats on, you only have to hover over the Firefox icon and it will give you a preview of each page. Also, if you hover over the preview, it will give you a full size preview.

Another cool feature is the task bar tray. Did all those icons for the programs you have running in the back ground bother you? Well Windows 7 eliminates that. Now you just click the arrow on the right side of the task bar, and a pop up will show you all the programs you have running in the background.

Compared to vista, I've noticed a considerable amount of speed. When i was running Vista home, all 4 cores of my processor would idle at about 30-40%. Now with Windows 7 it idles at about 5-10%.

I know this isn't a very thorough review, but after only a day i am impressed. And I'd almost be willing to say this is the best windows OS yet. Programs open smoothly, great features to make everyday tasks quicker. I will definitely buy the full version when it is released.

If you want to try Windows 7 RC out for yourself follow this link. its about 3.4GB in size and you'll need a DVD to burn the ISO onto.

Thx for the review. I never even bothered with vista because from what I heard and saw, I just wasnt impressed. So when windows 7 came out, I didnt give it the time of the day. Mayhaps now I'll give it a chance.

I have Windows 7 installed on my desktop computer. Mostly because some of the stuff I want to use isn't compatible with 7 (i.e. Windows Blinds). However, my laptop is still running Vista 32-bit. So I've got nothing to worry about for now. And for the record, Windows 7 is (in personal opinion) what Vista should have been in the first place.
